Hayawi, President of the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH), held an extensive meeting with the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Waqid Al-Moussawi, and several department heads to discuss development projects at the College of Medicine.
The meeting reviewed the “Virtual Patient” project, aimed at training and assessing students using interactive simulation systems that accurately replicate clinical cases, based on nationally accredited sources. The discussion also included a project for utilising medical manikins in skills laboratories to train students in 30 essential clinical procedures.

Ten Iraqi universities secured notable positions in the QS World University Rankings 2026, which evaluated over 1,500 universities worldwide. The University of Baghdad ranked 741–750, Al-Nahrain University 951–1000, and both Al-Mustansiriya and Anbar Universities ranked 1001–1200. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, honoured Aqeel Zaid Nabil — a student and inmate at Al-Karkh Central Prison — who completed his university studies through the Prisoner Education Programme, an initiative led by the Ministry of Higher Education in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and implemented by the University of Information Technology and Communications. The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) held an official ceremony to honour the winners of the 2024 Warith Al-Anbiyaa Artificial Intelligence Applications Competition, organised under the theme “Innovative Intelligence for Sustainable Solutions”. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, and in the presence of the Deputy Minister, Dr Haider Abdul Dhahad, with direct supervision from the University President, Professor Dr Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayawi. The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members and experts in the field of artificial intelligence.
The competition saw the participation of 94 projects submitted by students and researchers representing over 22 Iraqi universities and was structured around three primary thematic tracks. During the event, the top three winning projects in each track were announced as follows:

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, chaired a meeting to follow up on preparations for the launch of the Colleges of Excellence and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad, as part of the ministry’s plans for the 2025–2026 academic year.
During the meeting, the minister emphasised the importance of aligning with global advancements in academic fields and creating a learning environment rooted in innovation and specialised knowledge. The College of Excellence will include programmes in applied information, business administration, e-commerce, accounting, banking, sociology, philosophy, and data science. The College of Artificial Intelligence will offer programmes focused on engineering applications, biomedical technologies, and smart data systems.
This initiative reflects the ministry's commitment to advancing the quality of higher education, promoting research and innovation in emerging technologies, and fostering institutional collaboration. It also supports the development of skilled human capital capable of driving inclusive and sustainable growth across various sectors.
The Riyada initiative, launched by the Iraqi government, aims to empower youth by providing training and support for entrepreneurship. University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa was the first university in Karbala, Iraq, to collaborate and be part of this initiative. In 2024, over 53,000 individuals were trained, with 8,130 participants benefiting from loans. The initiative registered 424,749 participants, creating 10,000+ job opportunities. Its key goals include equipping youth with skills for the labour market, encouraging entrepreneurship, fostering innovation, and boosting Iraq’s economy. The programme offers training, mentorship, and government-backed loans to support small businesses, ensuring long-term sustainability. Riyada also promotes collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive economic growth and employment.
Achievements of the Initiative at University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa
The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa witnessed wide participation in the “Riyada” initiative, achieving the following milestones:
Number of training courses held at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University: 22 courses.
